SWINGTIME ORCHESTRA adds that special "touch of class" to any gala event. Swingtime has provided entertainment and dance music for many wedding receptions, conventions, private parties, fund raisers, dances, any occasion where live music enhances the enjoyment of your guests. This big band grouping is comprised of the remarkable talent in Savannah, Charleston, Hilton Head and the Lowcountry area, and is an exciting, professional quality group as a new generation Big Band.
Jon Miller is the leader of Swingtime Orchestra. He is a professional trombonist,and former director of Navy bands. He has extensive experience as a musician, composer, arranger, band leader and entertainment coordinator. He is a graduate from the Armed Forces School of Music, as well as Hawaii Pacific University, Columbia College and Webster University, where he respectively holds Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. A winner of the prestigious George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence award, he is internationally recognized for achieving a high standard of musical excellence and outstanding leadership as a military band leader.
Mr. Miller has performed in theatre orchestras as a trombonist in the musicals "Once Upon A Mattress," "The Music Man," "Hello Dolly," "West Side Story," "A Chorus Line," "Showboat," "5 Guys Named Moe," "Mame," "42nd Street" and "Chicago." He has also backed up such performers as Johnny Brown, The Ice Man Jerry Butler, Lynn Roberts, Steve Lippia, and The Temptations Review. He has also performed throughout the southeast with the Hilton Head Orchestra, Hilton Head Choral Society, Savannah Jazz Orchestra, Joe Clark Big Band, Chris Clarke and the Major 7, Andrew Thielen Big Band, Robert Platt Band, and J.B. and Friends Orchestra.
Besides producing, directing and performing on his CD, "Cheers To All Of You," he has also recorded in studios where you can hear him on Swingtime Orchestra's "I Love Being Here With You," Robin Beauchamp's "Robin Beauchamp Project," Savannah Jazz Orchestra's "Satin Doll," Penney Petersen's "As It Should Be," Hilton Head Orchestra's "Big Band Bash!" "Mancini, Mercer and More!" "Big Band Bash Salutes Frank Sinatra" and "Big Band Bash! Mancini Revisited."
